Where Am I teaching next?
The ending of North Adams Yoga has, of course, been bittersweet. For over 8 years those walls held us through cancer, pregnancy, birthday celebrations, marriage, epiphanies, and just really hard days. (Yours and mine, all). Owning a small business is a relationship, you get what you give and it takes a lot of care and attention. Of course, the reward is freedom to create, deep connection with clients, and space to develop your passion and skills.
North Adams Yoga is complete. We set out with intentions of making yoga more accessible and sustainable for a personal practice. We established scholarships, previously unseen in the area, giving more than $4,000 worth of free classes to individuals alone. Our classes have been crafted to not just entertain or lead a class, but teach skills and knowledge that you can use to ‘play the long game’. That is, to be able to do the things you love for a long time.
So what happens now? We still have classes in the studio until the end of January (we need just a couple of days to tear out the flooring and will have a ‘tag sale day’ for those who want to buy some props and equipment).
And after that?
You can still play the long game.
I (Devin) am building an online video library that you can purchase a membership for. At just $15/month you’ll have access to hours of workouts, yoga classes, and short tutorials to help you maintain your body or a practice. Launch date is TBD.
Online series will continue (8 weeks at a time) for a while. These classes are held live once a week via Zoom and you can watch recordings to your heart’s content for 30 days each.
And what you’re all asking about…
Yes! There will be some live classes in person starting mid-February.
I have agreed to teaching Optimal Healing in North Adams! When this business first opened I thought, what a genius idea, a business that helps to care for the whole person, body, mind and spirit/self. I feel honored to be trusted with some of that care.
Classes will kick off with a special Partner Yoga with Thai Massage instructed by yours truly for a Valentine’s weekend event on Saturday, February 15. Weekly classes will be offered Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays to start. Classes and times to be announced, but they will be similar to what I offer now.
I can’t wait to introduce you all (if you haven’t yet gone) to the beautifully renovated space on East Main. An infrared sauna, fully equipped yoga studio, and a whole team of professionals are ready to welcome you all.
